Today marks the start of johnshopkinsuniversity ReadingPeriod. Hopefully our students are having more fun than these guys (please note the unhappy cane-wielder):

On this day in 1974, fifteen cheeky johnshopkinsuniversity students streaked through campus and the MSE Library.

We can’t wait to commemorate the start Daniel Coit Gilman’s presidency (which began on this day in 1876) even without an orchestra!

On this day 114 yrs ago, it was proposed that the land for Homewood campus be given to #JHU. We think it still looks pretty good!

Join us for our Valentine’s Day rare books extravaganza!  Laugh at hilarious erotica from the 18th century, get a sugar rush from the sweetness of Victorian declarations of love, and take glee, murderous glee, in the depictions of cherubs being eaten by crocodiles! Plus, you can make your own vintage Valentine!

Join us, won’t you?

A food truck. Neon chairs. The clothing of the students. Trees that may look quite different in 50 years. What will future generations make of this photo, taken by student Yi Yang in 2014? The photos of Hopkins history we share here on social media were at one time as current to the Hopkins community as this photo is to us today.

Thanks, Yi Yang, for sharing this photo with us via http://retrospective.jhu.edu!

Photo of the 1992 Hopkins Rugby team sent to us by Scott Haag. Team members still get together for alumni games and family events. Go, Hop!

Our new Hopkins Retrospective website has a feature where the public can upload images or share stories from their experiences at Johns Hopkins. The first submission was this 1968 flyer advertising the campus radio station WJHU. Mr. T, Charlie Brown, Okie, and Fish were DJs. Many thanks to Ron Nichols (aka Okie) for sharing this piece of campus history with us!

Have your own piece of campus history to share? Visit the Hopkins Retrospective website and let us know about it!

Seeing lots of excited people online who have been admitted early decision to #JHU2019. Congratulations! Here’s a photo of the Class of ‘19–1919, that is!

Good luck on exams, Blue Jays! Here are some early 20th century Hopkins students sitting for an exam.

Have a safe and delicious Thanksgiving! Here’s the AMR I dormitory dining room in the 1930s, all set up for the next meal.
